NGOs allege illegal deforestation of primary rainforest to plant cacao and oil palm, in Tamshiyacu, Loreto region, Peru.

Convoca.pe flew over the deforested area of Tamshiyacu, in Loreto, Peru, and found that the company of American citizen Dennis Melka continued to operate even though the Ministry of Agriculture had ordered them to stop their activities.

Farmers in Tamshiyacu, in Loreto region, report that the culprit of the deforestation that has been occurring is Cacao del Perú Norte, a company that kills the primary forests of the area without the permission of the regional entity.

One of the most affected areas is Tamshiyacu, province of Maynas (Loreto). Here, the company Cacau del Peru Norte SAC deforested -in less than 5 months- 2150 hectares of primary tropical forests.
