Peru ended 2014 with 112,800 hectares less in the Amazon forest in relation to 2013. The official Brazilian deforestation in 2014 was four times larger, with 480,000 hectares.
The department of Caquetá, in the Colombian Amazon, goes through enormous changes. Its western part, where the Amazon rainforest region moves on the slopes of the Andes Mountains, became the main focus of deforestation in Colombia in the last decade.
Terra-i published a video of its first field validation of its data on vegetation cover changes for the years 2011- 2012 in Pucallpa, Ucayali, in Peru. This validación was realizada between September and October of 2013.
System which monitors deforestation in Latin America indicates that the cutting of forests in Ecuador erupted in the first weeks of 2013.
